Battersea Revolutionary War Reenactment
Petersburg, Colonial Heights and Hopewell real estate buyers will want to mark your calendars for the next Battersea annual commemorative reenactment of the Revolutionary War battle fought here on April 25, 1781. The reenactment is usually scheduled on the third weekend in April.
The weekend event is held on the 35 acre grounds of Battersea, the home of Petersburg's first mayor, Colonel John Banister. In addition to continuing demonstrations of military camp life and battlefield demonstrations, there is a Saturday morning memorial service honoring General William Phillips, commander of the British Forces who died of a fever after the battle and was buried in a secret location in the Blandford Church cemetery.
